Luke 22:66-23:25

Chapter 22
66 And when day came, the elders of the people gathered together, both the high priests and the scribes, and they led him to their Sanhedrin. 67 "If you are the Christ, tell us." But he said to them, "If I tell you, you will not believe me." 68 But if I ask, you will by no means answer. 69 From now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God. 70 But they all said, "Are you, therefore, the Son of God?" He said to them, "You say that I am." 71 But they said, "What further need do we have of testimony? For we heard it from his own mouth."

Chapter 23
1 Then the whole crowd got up and led him to Pilate. 2 They began to accuse him, saying, "We have found this one perverting our nation, forbidding payment of tribute to Caesar, and saying that he is Christ, a king." 3 Pilate asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?" He answered, "You say so." 4 But Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, "I find no basis for a charge in this man." 5 But they kept insisting, saying, "He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, starting from Galilee even to here." 6 But Pilate, having heard this, asked whether the man was a Galilean. 7 When he learned that Jesus was under Herod's authority, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time. 8 But when Herod saw Jesus, he rejoiced greatly. For he had wanted to see him for a long time, because he had heard about him, and he hoped to see some sign done by him. 9 He questioned him at length, but he gave him no answer. 10 But the chief priests and the scribes were standing there, earnestly accusing him. 11 But Herod, having scorned him with his troops and having mocked him and clothed him in a bright robe, sent him back to Pilate. 12 And Herod and Pilate became friends with each other on that very day; for previously they had been at enmity with each other. 13 But Pilate, having called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, 14 He said to them, "You brought this man to me as one turning away the people, and look, I, having examined him before you, found no legal cause in this man for which you accuse him." 15 but not even Herod, for he sent him back to us; and see, nothing worthy of death has been done to him. 16 Therefore, after disciplining him, I will release him. 18 But they shouted with the whole crowd, "Take this one away, release Barabbas to us!" 19 who had been thrown into prison for a certain sedition that had taken place in the city, and for murder. 20 But Pilate addressed them again, wanting to release Jesus. 21 But they kept shouting, "Crucify, crucify him!" 22 But a third time he said to them, "Why? What evil has this man done? I have found no cause of death in him. Therefore, after disciplining him, I will release him." 23 But they kept pressing him with loud voices, demanding that he be crucified, and their voices prevailed. 24 And Pilate gave their request its due. 25 He released to them the one who had been thrown into prison for sedition and murder, whom they were asking for; but he handed Jesus over to their will.
